Macabeo
"Deep in South-central Spain, Jumilla is becoming increasingly well known for its delicious white wines. In Rioja, Macabeo is known as Viura and gives the great Rioja blancos their rich, waxy texture. In Jumilla, the Macabeo is transformed into delicious, brisk and thirst-quenching white wines that pair beautifully with seafood and tapas. The Castillo de Jumilla’s ’08 Macabeo casts a brilliant pale green-gold hue from the glass followed by aromas of freshly cut white flowers, kiwi, melon and quince. Brisk and bracingly acidic on the attack, the Macabeo complements its fresh green fruit expressions with a lilting undercurrent of salty minerals. The Macabeo finishes as refreshingly as it began, and will be a terrific partner to grilled prawns, halibut, monkfish, paella, grilled summer vegetables and dishes featuring salt cod. Enjoy young and often, but be sure to finish your case before winter." - Winemaker notes
